(NaturalNews) At least 36 states are expected to face water shortages within the next five years, according to U.S. government estimates. Available freshwater supplies are dwindling across the country due to rising temperatures and droughts, while increasing sprawl, population and inefficient resource usage are leading to rising demand.

"Is it a crisis? If we don't do some decent water planning, it could be," said Jack Hoffbuhr, executive director of the American Water Works Association. Rising temperatures due to global warming have increased evaporation rates across the country and reduced the availability of important water sources. One of these is the Sierra Nevada snowpack, which supplies a significant portion of California's water. Across the West, similar trends are expected to reduce flows of the Colorado River, which supplies water for seven states.

Meanwhile, rising sea levels are expected to cause saltwater to infiltrate freshwater aquifers in coastal states, rendering that water unusable................

If you can get far enough away from Detroit and Flint ans Saginaw....and .....

There is one thing I can say about Michigan - we have a shload of fresh water. One of the main reasons I plan on making my last stand right here.

You notice they don't actually list the states.

Alot of the water hysteria is simply a mechanism to take water rights from individual landowners. There are some valid water shortages, but there are many more lining up to make money off of this deal and strip water as a basic right.

BTW> The US and Canada are the only countries not to sign onto the global water rights mandate from the UN. That mandate states that free water is a fundamental human right. (Not that I like the UN, just proving the stance of the US).

"The petri dish is nearing fullness" Andy is on to the real problem: same amount of water,
too many people.

You nailed it. They are even telling us there will be water shortages in Alberta now. Total Horse*&^% it is about controlling the water supply.

Some parts of the dish are more crowded than others. The big megalopolises are the ones facing the biggest threat: LA, Atlanta, Las Vegas (Which has initiated some remarkable water reforms, btw), etc.

Yes. Now the UN has their "Great Lakes Water Compact" for the 8 states bordering these lakes, which declares privately-owned water to be publicly owned. If the Compact is approved by all 8 states' legislative bodies, and approved by Congress, it will overrule our Constitutional rights.

If you're in one of these states (MN, WI, IL, IN, MI, OH, PA, NY), please learn more about this water-grab, and do something about it, if you're not already. We in Ohio are the last state opposing this Compact, and things are starting to look bleak.

the Compact:

Bottled water was a tip off.

Corporatizing rain was run as a test plan in Bolivia and water was where a very peaceful people drew the line and took a stand.

Most of us can collect our roof run off, and should.

eh, probably not.

Th entire world's population can be contained in a piece of land the size of Texas.

This is just part of the plan to keep whitey at sub-replacement reproduction levels while the 3rd world takes over.

agreed, just remember, that the pollution line for Huron is right around Standish ,any Saginaw bay water south of there would be ruined by sewer discharges from Bay city, Saginaw and Flint, the water currents there do a 180 as the lake drops off heavily and forces the nasties back south,Lake Michigan at the Illinois/Indiana area would be unsafe,as well as most of the Wisconsin side, it would be bad south of Ludington as well.L.Michigan doesnt have the counterflow currents like Huron or Superior do so pollutants tend to stay put.Superior would be fine in general,Erie and Ontario would be cesspools
